Tools with Jim Budlong
This class has been filled.
Since the founding of our program students in the nine- month session have begun their studies by learning to make their own planes. Students in the Plane Making class will have the chance to share in the discoveries of making, tuning, and using this iconic instrument.
The Plane Making class begins with a day of gaining an appreciation of the meaning of “sharp”. Two Hock plane irons, 11/2″ and 13/4″ are provided along with maple stock to make two planes. Students will have an opportunity to use their new tools to accurately join two boards and cleanly plane the resulting surface.
